The Production Guild is delighted to announce that the ASSISTANT DIRECTORS TRAINING SCHEME II (ADTS) is now open for applications.
The course will enable participants to gain the necessary skills and knowledge to either make the move from 3rd Assistant Director to 2nd Assistant Director as smooth a transition as is possible or further their experiences as a newly established 2nd Assistant Director within feature film production.
This will be achieved by building upon their production experience with newly acquired skills, taught by established and leading feature film Assistant Directors. The aims and objectives of the scheme is to ensure a new cohort of skilled and educated Assistant Directors who will bring increased value to both the Production chain and to the Directors' team.
Full details of the scheme can be found within the application pack, including a day-by-day breakdown of course content and the selection criteria.
Supported by the Creative Skillset Film Skills Fund, as part of A Bigger Future 2, ADTS II will be held at the PG Offices, Pinewood Studios for 12 participants from Monday 4th to Friday 15th March 2013.
The deadline for applications has been extended to Friday 22nd February 2013. We anticipate that there will be a huge demand for places and would appreciate early submissions to process applications to the selection panel. This two week intensive course is designed to fast-track the careers of established Production, Floor and Location Runners and Junior Assistants to become Assistant Production Co-ordinators in feature film production within the United Kingdom.
This course will give freelancers access to coherent and ongoing training that will effectively and speedily provide them with the core and specialised skills demanded by the full job role. Training is delivered by current leading and experienced Line Producers, Production Managers and Production Co-ordinators through lectures, practical sessions, Q&A and visits to facilities and suppliers.
Supported by the Creative Skillset Film Skills Fund, as part of A Bigger Future 2, the scheme will be held at the PG Offices, Pinewood Studios for eight participants from Monday 3rd to Friday 14th December 2012.
The deadline for applications is Friday 16th November 2012. Completed application and diversity monitoring forms can be e-mailed to PG@ProductionGuild.com or posted to the address found within the application pack.
In the event that we receive more qualifying applications than places available, a selection committee will select the eight participants.

This four week intensive course is designed to fast-track the careers of established production personnel to become Production Managers in feature film production in the United Kingdom.
It is designed for applicants who have substantial experience and credits in their current grade and we would expect the following grades to apply; 1st and 2nd Assistant Directors, Location Managers, Production Co-Ordinators, Production Accountants and Post Production Supervisors.
Delivered through short courses, on-line resources, personal coaching and Q&A provided by key UK physical production management talent, alongside visits to facilities and suppliers, PG PROGRESS will enable participants to gain the necessary skills and knowledge to make the transition to Production Management.
This course will give freelancers access to coherent and ongoing training that will provide them effectively and speedily with the core and specialised skills demanded by the full job role.
This programme will ensure that participants will:
• Be guided and mentored by respected and established colleagues
• Gain a better understanding of scheduling, budgeting and the implications that has on the production process;
• Share knowledge, experience and concerns with colleagues and peers;
• Examine how professional practices are done and understood in both the UK and abroad;
• Further their awareness of human resources management;
• Gain a deeper understanding of legislation, union agreements, insurance and Health and Safety legislation;
• Become more aware of what can be achieved with VFX and post production;
• Learn through simulation away from the pressure of everyday production;
• Benefit from an immediate and hopefully long-term support network;
Supported by the Creative Skillset Film Skills Fund, as part of A Bigger Future 2, the scheme will be held at the PG offices at Pinewood Studios for 10 participants from 22nd October – 20th November, 2012.

Following the great success of the Production Guild’s PG PROGRESS - Production Accountants I & II, we now invite applications from established film and TV Assistant Accountants who are keen to progress to the next level of their careers by becoming Departmental Accountants with a specific focus on VFX and Construction Accountants.
This two week intensive course is designed to fast-track the careers of established Assistant Accountants to become Departmental Accountants on feature film production within the United Kingdom. Structured as a mix of classroom based learning, lectures and practical exercises, week one will equip you with the tools you need to work as a Departmental Accountant with week two specialising in the VFX and Construction Accountant roles.
This course will give freelancers access to coherent and ongoing training that will effectively and speedily provide them with the core and specialised skills demanded by the full job role. Training is delivered by current leading and experienced Financial Controllers, Production Accountants, VFX Producers and Construction Managers through lectures, practical sessions, Q&A and visits to VFX and Post Houses
Supported by the Creative Skillset Film Skills Fund, as part of A Bigger Future 2, the scheme will be held at the PG offices at Pinewood Studios for six participants from 11th June to 22nd June, 2012

Recruitment Process to Begin Summer 2012
This intensive course scheduled over 4 weeks is designed to fast-track the careers of experienced Assistant and Key Assistant Accountants to become freelance Production Accountants in feature film and television dramas.
The course is designed through attending a series of short courses comprising nine modules and is mapped against the National Occupational Standards in Production Accounting.
Delegates will be taught by the PG and leading practitioners and will gain significant updating and extension of their skills to secure work as Production Accountants.
As well as training in the core functions of the Accountant role - budgeting, cost controlling, forecasting and cost reporting, emphasis will be placed on the Accountant's mutual role to the Producer, Financiers and Completion Bond Company; their management duties with the Accounting Department and their central role in ensuring legal, fiscal and corporate compliance within and on behalf of the production.
