British comedy ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ follows a group of retirees who relocate to an Indian hotel and what they think will be a life of opulent leisure, only to find reality doesn't quite match the advertising. The UK Bribery Act 2010 applies to individuals and companies, both in the UK and working overseas provided they have some connection to the UK. It is a criminal offence for an individual to offer, give or receive a bribe. It is also a corporate offence if a business is found to have failed to prevent bribery.
What does it mean for the TV and Film Industry?
As a Producer or Line Producer you are responsible for ensuring your crew understand and comply with the Bribery Act 2010. As a 1st AD, Location Manager, Production Manager you are at risk of falling foul of The Bribery Act 2010 due to the everyday nature of film and TV production. This is a potentially high risk piece of legislation and one that you need to be aware of, without the knowledge you leave yourself exposed. Please don't be the one that didn't have time to understand the legislation. The Serious Fraud Office is investigating a number of cases and some have already faced prosecution / imprisonment.

THE RESCUERS, the latest film from Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Michael King, uncovers the largely unknown stories of 13 heroic and courageous diplomats who, at tremendous personal cost, saved tens of thousands of Jews during World War II. The film follows Stephanie Nyombayire, a young Rwandan anti-genocide activist who lost 100 members of her family in the Rwandan Genocide of the 1990s, and Sir Martin Gilbert, the renowned 20th century and Holocaust historian, as they travel across 15 countries and three continents interviewing survivors and descendants of the diplomats. Nyombayire and Gilbert explore and contemplate the past in a quest, in part, to understand what should be done to stop the ongoing genocide in Darfur and elsewhere.

Lunch will be provided for both parties in the Wimbledon Studio cafeteria at 1pm.
Wimbledon Film Studios can provide affordable production offices, standing sets include: forensic lab, intensive care unit, kitchen, lifts / elevators, locker rooms, morgue, pub, train, toilets, vaults and a street set. Facilities include HD avid suites, costume store, art dept facilities, construction workshop, props stores, make up and costume rooms, dressing rooms, four stages and available parking. As you may have seen AMPS have kindly organised a new series of free screenings based in Soho for Guild Members. The AMPS screenings will run on the second Monday of each month and will therefore not clash with the current Joint Guild Screenings held at Pinewood Studios. (The Joint Guild Screenings are currently on the usual summer break and will begin again on Monday 5th September 2011) Please note that places must be booked directly through AMPS at the link found at the bottom of this page. The other notable difference is that AMPS will welcome two guests along with each Guild Member although all places must be booked through the booking link. Tickets are also limited for these screenings, so please do book early to avoid disappointment. The booking page will usually tell you how many tickets are still available.

As an increasing number of films shot in the UK go 3D this year. The Production Guild and Vision 3 announce a day of open Surgeries - that will aim to directly answer your questions about budgeting and scheduling Stereoscopic Feature Film and Television projects.
Sharing their experiences of 3D projects ranging from 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' to 'David Attenborough's Flying Monsters', Adam May and Natalie Samson of Vision 3 will explain the necessary additional crew, equipment requirements, post production workflows and important shooting considerations for low budget to studio financed 3D Feature Films and the emerging 3D TV Market.
The sessions will also discuss shooting 3D for documentary and highlight the key differences producing 3D for television, explain how the 3DTV landscape is currently taking shape and how to effectively bring 3D to the home.
Vision 3 are the UK's leading 3D Production Specialists, and have supplied stereoscopic production expertise and 3D crew in 2010 for UK projects including 'Horrid Henry', 'TT3D' and in 2011 the forthcoming 'Clash of the Titans 2' and 'Jack the Giant Killer'.
The Surgeries will be held as a series of small group, one hour sessions with Adam and Natalie - with the aim to provide a forum to answer specific production questions and share new innovations and techniques for reducing costs and streamlining productions.
The hour long 3D Surgeries will alternate between separate Feature Film and Television focused sessions, and will be held at the Vision 3 offices: 179 Wardour St, London between 12pm and 7pm.

Owen can’t help noticing that Abby is like no one he has ever met before. As a string of grisly murders occupy the town, Owen has to confront the reality that this seemingly innocent girl is really a savage vampire.
The film's score is by Oscar, Emmy and Grammy award winning composer, Michael Giacchino ("Up", "Lost") and marks the return of legendary British horror brand Hammer Films, being the first film to come out of the studio in over 30 years.

The latest exclusive PG member only event will see Guy Sheppard of leading media lawyers, Wiggin LLP, hosting a seminar exploring ways in which producers can avoid legal costs becoming excessive.
Keeping deals simple, getting the right deal for the right cast member, having a clean chain of title, clearing rights, getting the best out of trade bodies such as the Guild and PACT, closing the commercial terms for finance and for distribution deals will all be under discussion.
Guy regularly advises Hollywood Studios, financiers and independent producers on aspects of film and television financing and production. Most recently he has worked with Twentieth Century Fox on feature films including "The A-Team", with Endemol in connection with its acquisition of Tiger Aspect, with Stephen Woolley's Number 9 Films on the forthcoming "Made in Dagenham" and for the UK producers of Sundance selections "Moon" and "Unmade Beds" and award-winning micro-budget productions "Shifty" and "Sounds Like Teen Spirit". Guy also sits as an advisor to the Board of the International Screenwriters' Festival, is a member of the Audit Committee of PACT and is a regular speaker at industry events, including recent invitations to speak at the Seville International Film Festival and a media financing conference in Singapore
