Elstree Studios
Elstree Studios is London's most famous film and television studio and one of the most famous studios in the world. In its 85 year history it has been the studio of choice for many legendary producers and directors from Alfred Hitchcock to George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Stanley Kubrick.
Major feature films produced at Elstree Studios include the Star Wars and Indiana Jones films, Superman, The Dam Busters, The Shining, Closer, Derailed, The Other Boleyn Girl and 1408... the list is endless.
Most recently Elstree has been the studio of choice for top producer and director Matthew Vaughn with his productions Kick Ass, staring Nicholas Cage and Harry Brown staring Michael Caine.
Elstree Studios is also well known for its television production. Three of the top UK television shows are made at Elstree. Dancing on Ice for ITV, Big Brother for Endemol/Channel 4 and one of the worlds most successful TV shows Who Wants to be a Millionaire? The latest TV production to arrive at Elstree is Tiger Aspects Secret Diary of a Call Girl staring Billie Piper.
The studios provide six large sound stages and one silent stage comprising of over 60,000sq ft of space. The two largest stages are two of the tallest in Europe with a working height of 50ft. Internationally famous acts such as Robbie Williams, Kylie, Madonna, Alicia Keys, Take That, Led Zeppelin, Il Divo and many other artists find these stages ideal for their tour rehearsals enabling them to fit a full size stadium stage and lighting grid.
The studios have first class ancillary accommodation; production offices, workshops, dressing rooms, wardrobe, make up, etc together with a full in house catering service and production village.
Elstree is superbly located being close to the motorway network, international and local airports as well as being close to a high street environment with easy access to five modern hotels, restaurants, shops and train station. There is car parking for over 400 vehicles on site and additional car parking near by.
